I’m seeing the Host Key Verification alert on every upload three times. This is on multiple different servers from multiple providers. The fingerprint listed is the same each time it is shown (per server of course), so I don’t believe its server key rotation. It more like Nova isn’t saving the key?
Its a bit disconcerting seeing it all the time but as far as I can see its related to Nova rather than the servers.
I’m seeing the same recently too. I’m still using Nova 11.10 if that’s relevant. Every file download or upload/save prompts me with the same Host Key Verification alert, which shows the same fingerprint.
Connecting to the same server(s) via the Terminal (either the one built-in to Nova, or an external one), doesn’t trigger the prompts.
I use the 1Password SSH Agent if that has any bearing on things.
Just replying because I’m curious. Do any of you have Prompt or Transmit (also from Panic) and have sync turned on? If so, do you see the same warnings in those apps when connecting? Just trying to gather more data to be able to narrow things down.
Also, for what it’s worth, I was using Nova just yesterday (most recent version) and was not experiencing the issue you described. I’ll try connecting to a few different servers tonight to see if I can cause the issue.
I have Transmit but I don’t have Panic Sync on anymore (I used it early on but had a couple of instances where it jumbled up my folder organisation so not longer use it). I haven’t seen the alert spamming behaviour in Transmit.
I’m still experiencing the issue but it’s much more random that it first seemed. It can be shown any number of times and it isn’t on each upload. I can see it three times on an upload and then do another upload to the same server seconds later and not see it at all. Then it will be back for the next upload.
It occurs for servers I have SSH keys setup for and ones that are just via SFTP with username/password.
It can also happen at different times during the upload. Before any files have been uploaded is most common but sometimes it will appear in the middle of the upload progress bar.
I’m considering downgrading to an earlier release of Nova, is that possible?
I do have Transmit, but don’t have Panic Sync turned on. I don’t get the Host Key Verification alerts when connecting to the same servers via Transmit.
I get an alert for the initial connection to the server, then usually one for every file I have open in the Nova editor as it loads it from the server. I also get one for every directory I browse or file I open in the Remote files sidebar. Then randomly, it will stop showing the alerts until I close the Nova project window and open it again.
I’m using Nova 11.10 - what version is everyone else using?
I’d forgotten to double check my Nova version (despite my talk of rolling back…) and it turns out my updater was throwing an error and hadn’t updated for a few versions. I’ve just downloaded a new copy of Nova (12.2 - latest release) and I haven’t seen the Host Key alert at all in the couple of hours I’ve been working today so far.
Fingers crossed it was just that for me. Worth trying if you’re seeing the same issue.
