The new split action buttons (close, magnify) don’t appear when creating splits using the split icon in the upper right of the editor (horizontal/vertical split button). They only appear when dragging tabs to create splits. This seems to be an unintended inconsistency although I like having a way to create splits without the new split action buttons. I prefer the clean look and using the key bindings instead.
